Cáritas Coimbra presented at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology
On September 26th, Cáritas Coimbra was present in a master class at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). The invitation came from Professor Artur Serrano, who teaches the subject Assistive Technologies for assisted living purposes.
Representing Cáritas Coimbra was Elisabete Pitarma, project manager of the Innovation Department, who shared insights on the institution’s experience in implementing AAL solutions (for assisted living environments), giving the Pharaon project as a practical example. She explained the objectives behind this European project and presented the various technologies and applications that are being developed within its scope. At this moment, the Pharaon solutions are already in a pilot phase, with some of them being implemented and tested in Cáritas Coimbra.
With the experience of this and other projects developed in Cáritas Coimbra, the project manager also shared with students the challenges faced in the creation and development process of innovative technologies that aim to support older adults in their daily activities.
This invitation to participate in the master class comes under the LIFEBOTS Exchange, a project that aims to create a new reality of care with the inclusion of social robots, through international cooperation with exchange of people and knowledge. Artur Serrano from NTNU is the coordinator of LIFEBOTS Exchange and is currently, and for 2 months (September and October), in Cáritas Coimbra doing his secondment – period in which an organization welcomes an external worker to exchange experiences and knowledge.
