Cáritas Coimbra takes part in the transnational meeting of the BALANCE project in Barcelona

On 11 May 2026, the transnational meeting of the European BALANCE project took place in Barcelona, at Fundesplai, bringing together the project’s official partners.

During the meeting, participants reviewed the activities already implemented, including awareness-raising actions, artistic workshops and participatory initiatives aimed at young people, families and professionals. A review of the BategaMent Fest was also carried out, highlighting the active involvement of young people in the organisation and delivery of the event, as well as the importance of creating safe spaces for sharing and reflection on mental health and emotional well-being.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss the programme for the Youth Mental Health Festival, which will take place in Coimbra on 5 June 2026. In this context, the young members of the Portuguese group had the opportunity to share their experiences in preparing the event. The forum aims to bring together young people from the Coimbra region to reflect on mental health challenges, share good practices and strengthen young people’s active participation.

The BALANCE project aims to promote mental health among young people aged 13 to 18 years old. It is funded by the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme (CERV) of the European Union and involves four partners: Cáritas Coimbra (Portugal), the Intermunicipal Community of Coimbra Region (Portugal), Fundació Ajuda i Esperança (Spain), and Fundesplai (Spain), which is the coordinating entity.
