Innovation from Cáritas Coimbra highlighted at Cáritas national network meeting

On 31 January, Cáritas Coimbra had the opportunity to present some of its innovative projects to the partners of the national Cáritas network. The meeting took place online and was attended by around 45 people, including the main Cáritas Portuguese and the various Cáritas Diocesans across Portugal (a total of 20 in the whole country).

The coordinator of the Innovation Department of Cáritas Coimbra, Andrea Campos, was together with project manager Ângela Pinto, and they presented the extensive work carried out by the Department in the field of inclusion, and active and healthy ageing. As examples of good practice, three European projects integrated by Cáritas Coimbra were presented, which are funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme, namely: ValueCare, which aims to create a digital solution for integrated care (social and health) to improve the quality of life of older people and their families; Pharaon, which aims to provide support for the active ageing of the European population through the creation of a set of open, interoperable and highly customisable platforms; and IDEAHL, which aims to improve the digital empowerment of vulnerable groups for a Healthy and Active Life, through the co-creation of a digital health literacy strategy in the European Union.

It was a very enriching event, for the exchange of knowledge and experiences, showing that the synergy between the Cáritas network is active and has strength to continue.

The ValueCare, Pharaon and IDEAHL projects received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme – ValueCare Project ‘Value-Based Methodology for Integrated Care Supported by ICT’, under grant agreement no. 875215; Pharaon Project ‘Pilots for Healthy and Active Ageing’, under grant agreement no. 857188; and IDEAHL Project ‘Improving Digital Empowerment for Active Healthy Living’, under grant agreement no. 101057477.
