Cáritas Coimbra promotes an event on health literacy at the Group of Schools of Lousã

On 17 January, Cáritas Coimbra will host an event on health literacy for children and young people, in collaboration with the Group of Schools of Lousã (Agrupamento de Escolas da Lousã), in the auditorium of Lousã Primary School. With the theme “Protecting the health of young people through health literacy”, this event is part of the PHILIP project, which aims to increase the Health Literacy levels of young people aged 11 to 15 and to empower Educators through health literacy awareness and education activities.

Cáritas Coimbra’s Innovation Department will organise the first part of the event, with a brief introduction to the project and the results achieved. The second part will include a panel discussion on the importance of health literacy in schools, with the participation of health and education professionals.

The event will be targeted at teaching and non-teaching staff, policy-makers and anyone interested in this area. Participants will receive a PHILIP Kit, which aims to remind them that health is a human right and the importance of health education for both young people and the community in general. The manual for educators and the training modules for young people developed will be available to the public free of charge on PHILIP’s website. The event is free and open to the whole community, with no pre-registration required.
