Cáritas Coimbra with strong participation at the international conference on Social Innovation
Smart Healthy Age-friendly Environments (SHAFE) and Social Innovation had been highlighted in Coimbra, on November 8th and 9th, in the International Conference Learning and Implementing Social Innovation.
The event aimed to share and discuss approaches, projects, best practices and also ethical aspects and data protection related to Social Innovation, as well as the development and implementation of more inclusive and healthy environments. Cáritas Coimbra, represented by its Innovation Department, was present on both days of the International Conference.
On the first day, it was involved in the dynamisation of the Hands-on SHAFE project Workshop, a project that is developing tools and training packages to encourage people to implement the SHAFE concept in the community. Renata Gonçalves and Maria Inês Santos represented the institution in this workshop, which aimed to present the Hands-on SHAFE, as well as the results obtained from the National Multiplier Events of each partner. Cáritas Coimbra also dynamised an activity whose objective was the involvement of participants through the dissemination of the Healthy Life modules contents, asking them to share their opinion about the facilitators and barriers existing in their community in relation to the following matters: healthy lifestyles, dealing with a disease and caring for someone with a disease.
Furthermore on this first day, integrating the panel “People at the centre of interventions”, Elisabete Pitarma presented the Pharaon project, more specifically, the implementation of the Portuguese pilot in Cáritas Coimbra and Santa Casa da Misericórdia da Amadora. The presentation focused on intervention with older adults, the technologies used and, essentially, the innovative services that are being implemented. Among other objectives, this pilot aims, through the implementation of new services, to support active and healthy ageing for older adults, as well as to encourage the support and development of skills in the surrounding community.
On the second day, Bruna Franceschini participated as a speaker in the panel “ICT and Health hand in hand”, presenting the ValueCare project as a practical example. The objective of the presentation was to demonstrate how the project intends to work with the concepts of person-centred treatment and value-based care in an innovative way. ValueCare is a project that is creating a digital integrated care solution (social and health) to improve the older adults’ quality of life.
This conference is co-organised by the Coimbra Nursing School, SHINE 2Europe, AFEdemy and the COST Action NET4Age-Friendly.
