Cáritas Coimbra meets with large-scale project consortium in Slovenia
From 5 to 7 July, Cáritas Coimbra was in Izola, Slovenia, participating in the plenary meeting of the large scale project Pharaon. During these three days, the consortium debated the project’s developments, with special focus on the pilot implementation phase, which is now beginning.
Representing Cáritas Coimbra was Elisabete Pitarma, from the Innovation Department, who presented the current context of the Portuguese pilot and the plan for its implementation. This pilot shows a great ambition as it will involve 484 participants in a period of 8 months. Therefore, it requires a great deal of preparation and exchange of knowledge between the various project partners.
The Coimbra institution also carried out a training session on the guidelines of ethical procedures, which consists in ensuring data protection of all participants since these will be collected during the implementation of the various pilots of this project. In all, 6 pilots will be tested in different locations in Europe, namely: Spain (Murcia and Andalusia), Portugal, Italy, the Netherlands and Slovenia.
The Pharaon project aims to develop integrated platforms that enable personalised and optimised health and social care. In this way, it aims to maintain the dignity of older people and increase their independence, security and abilities, as well as stimulate their interest in natural urban areas close to their residence. Furthermore, it aims to encourage their active participation in the preservation of the environment. To this end, it proposes to integrate services, devices and digital tools in open platforms that can be readily implemented.
This project is funded by the European Horizon 2020 Programme under grant agreement no. 857188. Additional information about the Pharaon project can be found at: https://www.pharaon.eu/.
