Cáritas Coimbra has participated in the Plenary Meeting of the European Consortium of the Pharaon Project

Cáritas Coimbra participated in the plenary meeting of the Pharaon project in Amsterdam, on November 9th, 10th, and 11th, represented by Natália Machado and Sofia Ortet from the Innovation Department. The event took place in a hybrid format, compatible with the current pandemic situation in Europe, which allowed participants to be face-to-face and online, with the presence of representatives of the 40 European partners currently involved in the project.

In addition to participating in general meetings, Innovation Department had three activities under its responsibility. Cáritas Coimbra, together with the Santa Casa de Misericórdia da Amadora, have presented the progress of the Portuguese pilot, in particular the results of the first phase of the pre-validation. Cáritas Coimbra also coordinated the workshop on ethics and data protection, regarding ethical and legal issues for the implementation of technological pilots in each of test sites and presented some guidelines on dissemination processes, including tips on how to involve older users in news and outreach materials.

The project “Pharaon – Pilots for Healthy and Active Ageing” intends to develop integrated platforms that allow personalized and optimized healthcare and social assistance, respecting the dignity of older people and increasing their independence, safety, capabilities and stimulating their interest in green and blue urban areas close to their area of residence. In addition, it intends to encourage active participation in the preservation of the environment. To this objective, it proposes to integrate digital services, devices, and tools into open platforms that can be readily implemented.

The project Pharaon is financed by the European Horizon 2020 Program under grant agreement no 857188. More information about the project Pharaon:  https://www.pharaon.eu/
