Cáritas Coimbra, received in June, the 4th Stakeholder Meeting of the EU_SHAFE project.

The meeting took place on June 25 and had the face-to-face participation of 11 entities, namely the CCDRC – Regional Coordination and Development Commission of the Centre; ARS – Regional Health Administration of the Centre; Higher School of Health Technology of Coimbra; Order of Psychologists of the Central Zone; CIM|RC – Inter municipal Community Region of Coimbra; Faculty of Geography and Tourism, University of Coimbra; Faculty of Medicine, University of Coimbra; Arganil Town Hall; Pampilhosa da Serra Town Hall.

The EU_SHAFE project aims to influence the region’s policy and financing within the SHAFE (Smart Healthy Age-Friendly Environments), through the contributions of a cooperative regional ecosystem between public authorities, regional networks, academia, associations and civil society and companies, while sharing and promoting their best practices with the other 6 Regions of the project. To this end, it was essential to create Local Action Group (LAG). The group was created on October 25, 2019, with the participation of several stakeholders from the Central Region of Portugal with an interest in SHAFE, able to add value to the added value that the project can bring to the Region.

One of the main objectives of the EU_SHAFE is to share good and innovative practices of the Partner Regions at European level and to replicate them in the Region, in the context of 4 areas (Housing and Infrastructure/Social Participation/Communication and Information/Health and Community Services). This fourth meeting focused on Domain 3 – Communication and Information.

The meeting began with a state of view on the EU-SHAFE project, influences proposed by the project to the financial instrument targeted – The Centre’s Regional Operational Programme. To better address this issue, the main stakeholder of the project was invited, responsible for the management of this regional financial instrument – the Regional Coordination and Development Commission of the Centre (CCDRC), represented by Lídia Martins.

Cáritas Coimbra then presented the 10 Good Practices chosen by the 6 European partners and the one chosen for the central region (the Rehab Project). At the end of this presentation, a challenge was launched to all present that consisted of a brainstorming on the Good Practices exposed.

The participation of those present was very active, and the discussion of the projects presented showed different points of view of stakeholders. It was possible to conclude which projects would be possible to implement in the Central region, which would improve the living conditions of the population and that could reduce the number of unplanned consultations in health services, as well as increase health literacy.

To finish the meeting, Dr. António José Silva, specialist in the meeting theme and communication consultant at the agency – Ideias Concertadas (Digital Marketing Communication) was invited as speaker.

At the end of the meeting, and as has happened before, stakeholders have reinforced the importance of cooperation, collaboration, and community engagement for the sharing of ideas and practices, joining forces implementing healthy and sustainable environments for all ages.
