In the context of the international project Smartwork, a technological system has started to being tested on the 1st of October 2020 that aims to enhance the well-being and productivity of +55 workers, in their work environment.

The first users are from Centro Social São Pedro, a Cáritas Coimbra equipment functioning in Bairro do Ingote, and will test and evaluate usability matters, utility and reliability of the Smartwork’s project system.

This system, in this pilot, will take advantage of technological equipment’s, like a computer, camera, mouse and smart bracelets, and will merge all data on a cloud platform. From the analyses of the collected data, the system will enable the improvement of well-being, functional and cognitive capacity, and issue support suggestions that might be used to expedite the tasks of the 55+ workers. On the other hand, in the future this innovation will give the employing entity a higher capacity to improve their efficiency and productivity around their teams, through resorting to support solution for decision making and work management.

The monitoring of the overall condition of the workers well-being and the additional support to informal care tasks were disclosed as one the families concerns.

The european project SmartWork (funded by Horizon 2020) is building an Artificial Intelligence(AI) system, focused on 55+ workers, able to foment the sustainability of their work capacity, that allows the:

• Active and on-going participation of older adults in a professional life;
• Support the active and healthy ageing of the older workers around the office;
• Monitoring of the well-being, behaviour, emotional and cognitive shape of the workers;
• Better deal with the ageing and sedentarism consequences at work;
• Creation of benefits for 55+ workers, their employers and carers.
