Cáritas Coimbra at Board Meeting of the European Covenant on Demographic Changes

Cáritas Coimbra attended, on June 25th, the Board Meeting (Virtual) for the European Covenant on Demographic Changes, represented by the Vice-President of the Covenant, Carina Dantas.

In discussion amongst the Board members was the strategy for the next work season, including future types of funding and the provided services.

The Covenant is an international non-profit organization,that aims to bring together all the local authorities, regional and national and other interested parts that are committed to cooperate and implement solutions based on evidence to support the active and healthy ageing, as a general response to the European demographic challenge, and already counts with more than 160 active members.

Cáritas de Coimbra is a founding member and is represented at the Covenant since 2016. The Covenant is established under Belgian law, which operates in close cooperation with the World Health Organization – Network of Age-Friendly Cities and Communities.

The current Board of the Covenant has 10 Directors and the following members:

  • President: Ms. Joan Martin, Chief Executive Louth City Council (IE), 2nd mandate
  • Vice-President elected by Full members and acting Treasurer: Mr. Sergio Morillo Corzo, Director General of Promotion of Personal Autonomy of the Biscay Country (ES), 2nd mandate
  • Vice-President elected by Ordinary Members: Ms. Carina Dantas, Innovation Department Director at Caritas Coimbra (PT), 2nd mandate
  • Secretary General: Ms. Anne-Sophie Parent, Secretary General of AGE Platform Europe (EU), 2nd mandate

In addition to the Covenant’s core objectives of sharing good practices between regions and increasing differentiated responses to demographic challenges in Europe, the Covenant is now the holder of the Silver Economy AWARDs – SEED Awards – and will be responsible for launching the new edition of the awards.
