Cáritas Coimbra represented the Social Sector at Think Tank SNS 4 Decades of Success

On October 29th, Cáritas Coimbra participated in the Think Tank – The Awakening of a Dream, a joint initiative between the Hospital do Futuro Forum and several technology companies that took place at Microsoft’s headquarters in Lisbon.

Carina Dantas, Cáritas Coimbra’s Innovation Department Director, participated in Think Tank as a Social Sector Group Leader, accompanying Carlos Alberto Silva in the group of hospitals with financial autonomy and Rosa de Matos in the health regions.

The Portuguese National Health Service (SNS) was founded 40 years ago with a clear vision of change and the future. This factor has been materializing, but the SNS requires sustainability. As part of the SNS 4 Decades of Success initiative, the Think Tank – Awakening of a Dream was intended to stimulate broad discussion of the national eHealth strategy involving public, social, and private health ecosystems.

Cáritas Coimbra is an social nonprofit organizations with knowledge in this area, having shared its experience in eHealth, relationships with users, family and caregivers, as well as the needs felt in the social sector. Their participation allowed contributing to the co-creation of ideas that make the SNS viable as a promoter of integrated care and its relationship with the citizen.

This was also an excellent opportunity for the institution to disseminate all its work on health as well as its projects, such as the Smartwork project, co-financed under the H2020 to promote healthier work environments for citizens 55+ and providing for a wide range of concertation activities with national and international initiatives.

The Think Tank – Awakening of a Dream has produced a portfolio of recommendations to be delivered to ministerial authorities to contribute to ENESIS 2020, Portugal’s national digital health strategy, with contributions from various personalities in the field, such as Adalberto Campos Fernandes, Maria de Belem Roseiro and Henrique Martins.
