Final conference of ValueCare project marks the end of 5 years’ work

The final conference of the ValueCare project was held on 12 and 13 September 2024. After almost 5 years, it was time to look back on the long road and share experiences and results.

The main objective of the ValueCare project was to provide personalised integrated care services (social and health), pursue better outcomes for older people and a better care experience, through ICT solutions adapted to the specificities of each of the 7 pilot studies in the European Union.

During the project, Cáritas Coimbra contributed transversally to all the working groups, with special emphasis on the co-creation activities, the implementation of the large-scale Portuguese pilot and led the task related to the development of protocols and ethical-legal documents in the project.

At the final conference, Cáritas Coimbra was responsible for presenting the ways in which the Portuguese pilot used the shared decision-making strategy to involve the different stakeholders in all phases of the project and how the ethical challenges were tackled.

The project book was also launched at the conference, The ValueCare experience: Creating value for older people with chronic conditions in Europe with a transition towards outcome-based integrated care supported by technology, and will soon be available free of charge on the project website for anyone interested (www.projectvaluecare.eu).

This project received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme – ValueCare Project ‘Value-Based Methodology for Integrated Care Supported by ICT’, under grant agreement no. 875215.
