Cáritas Coimbra participates in conference on trustworthy assistive technologies

The Innovation Department of Cáritas Coimbra was flattered to take part in the joint conference of visuAAL and Goodbrother. The event took place between 18 and 20 June in Alicante (Spain) and focused on trustworthy assistance technologies based on video and audio.

It was a great opportunity to meet current and former partners and colleagues from the field and share experiences and knowledge from several European projects. It was also a chance to present the methodological approach followed at the AAL4ALL project regarding the ethical evaluation, based on the paperwork “Ethical Checkpoint – a protocol for monitoring participants’ engagement in the AAL4ALL project”. This project is co-funded by the European Union’s AAL Programme and by FCT, in Portugal.

This also marked the wrap-up of the fruitful years of Goodbrother Cost Action, an outstanding initiative aimed to amplify the awareness of the ethical, legal, and privacy issues associated with audio- and video-based monitoring and to propose privacy-aware working solutions for assisted living, by creating an interdisciplinary community of researchers and industrial partners from different fields and other stakeholders.
