LIFEBOTS Exchange | Cáritas Coimbra hosts Norwegian University partner
At the beginning of May, Cáritas Coimbra hosted the researcher Yu Cheng from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) to exchange experiences and knowledge on social robots in the intersection of care, user interaction, technology and society. The initiative is part of the LIFEBOTS Exchange project, funded by the H2020 programme under the Marie Curie exchange and innovation programme.
During this exchange week, Yu Cheng worked closely with the Innovation Department of Cáritas Coimbra, learning about the work carried out by this department in the field of robotics applied to social and health care. During her stay, the NTNU project manager also had the opportunity to visit various centres of the Coimbra institution, such as the Rainha Santa Isabel Centre (Medical and Rehabilitation Clinic, Long-Term Care Unit, Chronic Disability/Impairment Home; Day Care Centre; and Home Care Service), the São Pedro Social Centre (Kindergarten; Day Care Centre; and Home Care Service), the Santo António Nursing Home (Residential Structure for Elderly People), as well as the institutional headquarters. On the last day, she was also welcomed at the Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN), which is also a LIFEBOTS Exchange partner.
In addition to Cáritas de Coimbra, NTNU and IPN, the project consortium is made up of 11 other research organisations, companies and NGOs from across Europe and South Korea.
