Cáritas Coimbra hosted the SUST-AID project consortium in Coimbra

In April 2024, Cáritas Coimbra organised the 4th transnational meeting of the European SUST-AID project, as well as the “Learning and Training Activities” (LTTA) event. The aim of the transnational meeting was to analyse the results already achieved and plan the next steps. On the other hand, the goals of the “Learning and Training Activities” were to finalise the SUST-AID training modules, aimed at professionals and volunteers in food aid programmes and work on the project’s e-learning platform.

The project consortium had the opportunity to visit the S. Pedro Social Centre, which has a social canteen, as part of the Solidarity Network of Social Canteens, of the Portuguese Emergency Food Programme. This social response supports people in a situation of economic and social vulnerability and serves approximately 607 meals per month.

SUST-AID is co-funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ Programme and aims to improve the skills and competences of personnel and volunteers in delivering high-quality, sustainable food aid programmes. It has 6 European partners: Cáritas Coimbra (Portugal), Prolepsis Civil Law Non-Profit Organization of Preventive Environmental and Occupational Medicine (Greece), ISEKI-Food Association (Austria), CSI Center for Social Innovation LTD (Cyprus), The Polish Farm Advisory and Training Centre not for-profit Sp. z o. o. (Poland) and Federacja Polskich Banków Żywności (Poland).
