Cáritas Coimbra and the Pedro Nunes Institute (IPN) organise the workshop “Co-creation on Smart Ageing” under the SAge-Hub project

On 10 and 11 March, Cáritas Diocesana de Coimbra and the Pedro Nunes Institute (IPN) organised the workshop “Co-creation on Smart Ageing” as part of the European SAge-Hub project. The event took place in Coimbra and brought together consortium partners and various organisations working in the fields of ageing and health, creating a space for reflection and collaborative work around active and healthy ageing.

The workshop included the participation of international project partners: the i2CAT Research Centre (Spain), Health Cluster Portugal (HCP) (Portugal), MIA – Movimento pela Inovação e Aceleração (Portugal) and AKMI (Greece).

The first day featured presentations from Ageing@Coimbra & CHAngeing Excellence Hubs, represented by Professor João Malva, who presented an analysis of ageing in the Coimbra region; from IPN, which addressed the role of innovation, research and technology; and from HCP, which explored the digital health ecosystem in Portugal and global trends in this field. This was followed by a session dedicated to the concepts of co-creation, Living Labs and ethical considerations, led by the Cáritas Coimbra team. Throughout the day, participants engaged in collaborative activities to identify local needs and challenges, focusing on digital literacy, social isolation, mobility and accessibility.

On the second day, the activities took place at IPN, including presentations of projects and applied research initiatives in the fields of ageing and health, as well as a practical session to explore and test technological applications, discussing methodologies for evaluation and improvement.

The SAge-Hub project is funded by the Interregional Innovation Investments (I3) instrument and aims to promote innovation and collaboration in the field of Smart Ageing across Europe. Learn more about the project on the official website: Home – SAge-Hub
