Cáritas Coimbra participates in a SUST-AID event in Poland

From 30 September to 4 October, Cáritas Coimbra participated in the Mobility Event of the European SUST-AID project, as part of the “Learning, Teaching, Training Activities”, in Warsaw, Poland. The event, which was attended by around 30 participants, brought together the consortium’s partners and invited experts and professionals linked to food aid programmes.

During the first few days of activities, the e-learning platform and the SUST-AID training package were tested, as well as some practical exercises that will be included in the Guidance for VET trainers and food aid programme leaders, the next outcome of the project. The general feedback was positive, and it was also possible to share suggestions for improvement and good practices.

On the remaining days of the event, all participants had the opportunity to learn about some of Warsaw’s projects and good practices related to nutrition and sustainability. It was also possible to find out more about the work carried out by The Federation of Polish Food Banks and Uniters Foundation, which involves volunteers from all over the world and supports children and families of Ukrainian volunteers and soldiers. In 2023, Food Banks supported approximately 1.5 million people in need in Poland, providing a total of over 32,500 tons of food for social purposes.

SUST-AID is co-funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ Programme and aims to improve the skills and competences of personnel and volunteers in delivering high-quality, sustainable food aid programmes. It has 6 European partners: Cáritas Coimbra (Portugal), Prolepsis Civil Law Non-Profit Organization of Preventive Environmental and Occupational Medicine (Greece), ISEKI-Food Association (Austria), CSI Center for Social Innovation LTD (Cyprus), The Polish Farm Advisory and Training Centre not for-profit Sp. z o. o. (Poland) and Federacja Polskich Banków Żywności (Poland).
