ValueCare project consortium met in person and the outcomes so far are positive

On 7 and 8 November, the ValueCare project partners met in Dublin (Ireland) to discuss the project’s progress and set out the next steps. This was the 11th plenary meeting and was attended by all the consortium members, including Cáritas Coimbra, which was represented by Bruna Franceschini and Maria Inês Santos from the Innovation Department.

The meeting was highly important for the consortium, as the project is in its final stages and the 7 pilots running in Europe are ending the intervention phase. On the first day of the meeting, Cáritas Coimbra, as the entity responsible for the pilot in Portugal, had the opportunity to present the implementation process carried out in this pilot, showing how it managed to achieve its ambitious goals. Cáritas Coimbra is also responsible for the project’s ethical task and presented again on the second day, showcasing the development of the project’s ethical protocols.

Throughout the two days, it was possible to witness the positive balance of the project’s activities. The excitement among the partners was evident, and it is becoming increasingly realistic to think of a successful ending, where a big step will be taken in integrated care (social and health).

ValueCare is a European project that aims to promote value-based care, supported by technological solutions. To this end, it has developed an application, to be used on a tablet/smartphone, where participants share their health and wellbeing habits, and then a multidisciplinary team develops an individual care plan.

In addition to the pilot in Portugal, there are 6 other pilots in Europe, namely in the Netherlands, Italy, Greece, Spain, Croatia, and Ireland. The project is coordinated by the Erasmus Medical Centre in the Netherlands and is funded by the European Commission’s H2020 programme.
