Cáritas Coimbra meets with ValueCare project consortium in Croatia

On June 8th and 9th, Cáritas Coimbra, represented by Bruna Franceschini from the Innovation Department, attended the ValueCare project consortium meeting, in hybrid format, in Opatija, Croatia.

The meeting served essentially to discuss and evaluate the project’s developments. Each partner shared the tasks they had accomplished and, at the end, they discussed the next steps to take. This meeting was very important, because the project is starting the implementation phase of the large-scale technological pilot. Cáritas Coimbra is the entity responsible for the Portuguese pilot, which involves the participation of 240 people.

Besides the pilot in Portugal, there are 6 others in Europe, namely in the Netherlands, Italy, Greece, Spain, Croatia and Ireland. Through these, it will be possible to evaluate the efficiency of ValueCare’s digital solution, which is intended to be robust, secure and expandable. To this end, the technology will be tested over the course of a year directly with potential end users.

The basic model of this technology is based on value-generated care and will allow the creation of an Individual Care Plan, monitored with the support of the ValueCare solution, namely at the level of physical well-being, social and family interaction and emotional balance of the end users. The project thus proposes to create an efficient model of integrated social and health care, aimed at improving the quality of life of older people (and their families) affected by cognitive decline, conditions of vulnerability or multiple comorbidities.

The project consortium includes 17 European partners and is funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Programme, under Grant Agreement No. 875215, and is coordinated by the Erasmus Medical Centre (The Netherlands).
