Cáritas Coimbra projects highlighted in CRISH Course

On October 3rd and 4th, the CRISH Course – Co-Creating Innovative Solutions for Health – took place at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra. Cáritas Coimbra participated as a speaker/motivator, on the first day of the event, to share some of the work developed and to present some projects.

Carina Dantas, Innovation Department Director from Cáritas Coimbra, introduced the theme “Social and Community Innovation” in the interactive session dedicated to practical examples of co-creating innovative health solutions developed in the regional ecosystem. In this context, Carina Dantas made a brief introduction to the institution and presented the innovative aspect of Cáritas Coimbra, which focuses on the use of new technologies to develop projects (national and international) that promote a more active and healthy aging. Practical examples were Smartwork (innovative digital solutions for elder workers to remain actively involved in working life), GrowMeUp (innovative assisted living robot that supports the needs of elder people in their life activities), Toilet4me (smart bathroom, suitable for elder people). It was the last one that set the tone for the presentation of an effective example of co-creation and opened the door for discussion about friendly communities, empathic design and collaborative design.

The CRISH course was developed under the EIT Health CRISH project (Co-creating innovative solutions for healthcare 2.0) in an international partnership between University of Coimbra, University of Navarre, Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg, Imperial College London, University of Barcelona, Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal), Clinical Hospital of Barcelona, ​​Université Grenoble Alpes, Uppsala University, Agency for Health Quality and Assessment of Catalonia (AQuAS), Medical University of Lodz and Institute for AIDS Research (IrsiCaixa).

The course was designed for health professionals, patients, formal and informal caregivers, researchers, and entrepreneurs to identify health problems and needs and to design innovative solutions in response to these challenges.
